This role plays a pivotal part in driving financial decision-making, optimising operational performance, and supporting high-impact initiatives that deliver real outcomes for the community.

• Start: ASAP
• Pay Rate: $54.24 - $62.38 per hour + super
• Contract: 6-month temporary opportunity. Potential Temp to Perm
• Hybrid : Flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.
• Hours: Standard 35-hour work week
• Location: Cessnock NSW
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Advisory: Provide high-level financial guidance to managers and senior stakeholders to ensure informed decision-making across various business units.
• Management Reporting: Prepare monthly management reporting, variance analysis, and contribute to annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance financial accountability and align strategies with long-term organizational objectives.
• Financial & Asset Accounting: Assist with statutory financial statements, asset revaluations, and the maintenance of cost allocation frameworks.
• Compliance & Audit: Ensure alignment with Accounting Standards and coordinate with internal and external auditors.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Qualifications: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. (CPA/CA/IPA membership is highly regarded).

• Technical Expertise: Advanced capabilities in budgeting, forecasting, and data-driven analysis using Microsoft Office and complex financial management systems.
• Communication: Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to non-financial staff.
• Proactive Mindset: A commercially minded professional focused on continuous improvement and meeting critical deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Local Government Savvy: While not essential, previous experience in local government or with Activity Based Costing is a significant plus.
• Requirements: Must possess a current driver’s licence
